How to Build a House:
Building your own home is technically simpler than it seems, and a classic publication called Canadian Wood-Frame House Construction is an excellent “how to build a house” resource for demystifying the process. It won’t turn you into a carpenter, but it will show you everything a carpenter needs to know to build a great house frame. Code details, wall and roof construction and charts to determine floor and ceiling joist sizes. It’s all here. I got my first copy back in 1977 and the revised digital version you can download for free is better than ever.
