So if you remember from the previous video, this is the roof frame itself, made of two overlapping layers of 5 1⁄8 inch fence boards

And these caps go on the side and the bottom. They don't actually go at the top end of the roof, because the roof needs to hinge up

And if there was a cap there, overhanging the sides of the house, that cap at the back would stop the lid from hinging up

So there's no cap at the back, there's only a cap on three sides. And it's made of what's called 5 quarter deck boards

This stuff measures a full 1 inch thick. It's not 3 quarters, it actually measures 1 inch thick

And the side piece here, the roof frame side cap, goes on the side

There's another one on the other side. And then the roof frame bottom cap goes along the bottom edge, but it extends out past the end of the side cap

Because don't forget, this roof is sloped. It's sloped up at 15 degrees from horizontal, in this case

A handheld circular saw would work fine for this. And that creates a foundation, a place to put the roof frame bottom cap on
