Septic Lesson#4 How a Leaching Bed Is Built

In this video I want to give you some insights that will help you when it comes time to do an operation called

Jetting which is one of the two main procedures that's going to help you. This is an actual leaching pipe

in a septic system that was revived After it was completely plugged up. So this is a four inch ABS pipe

There are holes about three quarters of an inch in diameter all along

The length of this and here you can see some of the coarser material

That was used to bury the pipes now this particular system had a biomat problem and

Digging down I could also see that some chemical changes Some sulfation and some calcium deposits had built up around the pipes

Further preventing the sewage from being able to percolate out so we had two problems here both of them are very typical and

The first part of the operation involves digging down and finding the ends of the pipes like this now when you find them

The end will either be tapped or it will be connected by other pipes

by horizontal pipes to neighboring pipes either way you need to Cut through so that you have open access

To the leaching pipe in order to jet it out and a reciprocating saw

With a long blade is a perfect tool for this it can it can cut that off and remove it later on

We're going to install something here that makes Cleaning in the future a whole lot easier and in a way that doesn't involve a saw
