This video is all about how to get treatment liquid into the leaching pipes
0:07
This is liquid that will create a chemical change in the soil surrounding
0:15
the leaching pipes so that that soil can percolate water again. Now this treatment
0:21
is unlike most that are supplied to the tank. Nothing goes into the tank
0:27
for this process. The tank would be over here to the left, the effluence coming in
0:32
Now you're going to run into one of two different situations. This particular
0:37
drawing is like my own septic system in that it doesn't have what's called a
0:41
distribution box. A distribution box would be a box that fits somewhere in
0:48
here and out of it these pipes would leave from the distribution box
0:56
This box is also accessible from the top so if your system has a distribution box
1:01
your job administering these chemicals is easier because the object of the game is to get the treatment chemicals here after you have jetted out
1:15
the pipe. So they're squeaky clean, there's full access of the liquid to
1:19
the soil around it and this box which will either be accessible from the
1:24
surface or you could dig down and get into it. That's the place where you just simply put the treatment chemicals in. Now if you don't have a distribution box
1:34
what you need to do is to go into the tank which would be somewhere over here
1:39
and find the outlet to the tank and using a pipe about inch in diameter, inch
1:46
and a quarter polyethylene pipe is perfect. You can jam it in there, put the
1:53
pipe inside and then with a funnel you pour the liquid in and it'll flow down
2:02
in here and distribute itself along the leaching pipes which at this stage have
2:09
their ends recapped again because you don't want the liquid just to simply flow out. You want that liquid to sit in there and to have as long as possible to
2:18
treat and to change the soil and the material around the pipes. You also want
2:24
to do this after the tank has been pumped because the longer that it can
2:29
sit there without fresh sewage coming in the better off you are. So that's how the
2:36
business of treating the soil around the pipes works
