What do you recommend for holding new glass in old wooden windows?

window frames. It’s a good system, especially if you keep it painted. You can help the putty stick to the wood by moistening with some boiled linseed oil first. Not too much, just enough to dampen the surface. Let the putty cure for at least several weeks, then paint. You’ll get the most weatherproof seal if you extend the paint line slightly onto the glass, then remove the excess using a razor blade scraper.
