For people living in the country, getting water usually involves electricity, a pump, tank and a bunch of fittings. Lose electricity and there goes your water, too. Boosting the reliability of my homestead water supply is why I installed a Bison deep well hand pump. You can see the original installation job here. This pump lives alongside our regular submersible electric pump within the same well, but it’s completely separate. If anything happens to our regular, electric-powered water system, the hand pump provides an electricity-free back up. And it even works without freezing in our cold Canadian winters as you can see.
