How to Use This Book

The internet lets me do more with this course than I ever could with a paper book. Besides the words and images you’ll find, there are also video tips in key places throughout the course. Watch for them. They’re the next best thing to having me by your side, explaining things as you study and build. Look out for the click-to-view icons within the text, then watch and learn.

As an experienced builder, I know it’s rarely convenient or even possible to build with plans and directions displayed only on a laptop, tablet or e-reader.  That’s why you’ll find printable plan downloads here and there throughout the course. They will be clearly marked when you get to them. Also, there’s a downloadable PDF version of the course that you should have gotten a download link for when you purchased the course. This PDF is a self contained computer file that you can use when you don’t have an internet connection. Even the videos in the PDF will play with no wifi.

Besides allowing me to teach you more effectively, digital delivery of this course also means I can update the content easily as needed, incorporating corrections and suggestions sent to me by people like you who actually build the cabin. Ultimately, readers are my best editors, so please let me know how I’ve done and how I can improve the course. Steve Maxwell
